I plan to weigh in every other day or so with what I hope are yak-worthy thoughts, musings and reconditioned events from my alleged past, my assumed present and my delusional future. If you want to comment, I will respond almost as quickly as those spam guys who claim you can make $500/day in your underwear.

I think I've been pretty responsible with my recommendations....

….but I’m going to go a little nuts here. Showtime is running a five-part documentary of the American Football League, “Full Color Football.” I have only seen the first two installments, but this is the single best documentary on sports I have ever seen, and that includes all the great work HBO has done, not to mention Ken Burns and his bangs. Crazy good. Trouble-falling-asleep-after-you- watch-it good.

Like any worthwhile documentary, it becomes less and less about the subject matter and more about the context in which it lies. George Will once said that football is the ultimate modern American sport because its violence interrupted by meetings (pretty damn lyrical for a righty….). Which is precisely the reason it lends itself to documentary better than baseball. Football is more societal and reflects its surroundings better than baseball. That may not have been the case pre-1947, but it is now.

Enough. Either get Showtime for a month and cancel or make friends with a guy who does.
